先日のイスラム国の脅迫分を翻訳したものを紹介します。

とうとう2人の日本人の人質と共に、日本も国際テロの波に巻き込まれてしまいました。ここでは、イスラム国の脅迫分を翻訳したものを紹介します。
イスラム国からの脅迫文の全文が入手できましたので取り上げます。
ただし、ツイッターから出た文章なので本物かどうかは確証はありません。しかし、日本語に訳してみるとメディアで放送されている脅迫文とほぼ同じです。

英文記事の原文の魅力と重要さについて

今日は、「原文」の魅力と大切さについては書きたいと思います。
今、イスラム国過激派に関係するハッカーがアメリカの中央軍のツイッターとユーチューブのアカウントを乗っ取った云々という記事を訳しています。
記事の中に、ハッカーらが送ってきたこんなメッセージがあります。
"American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back,"
訳するとこんな感じでしょうか。
「アメリカ軍兵士よ。我々はお前たちの背後から迫り、見張っている」
これは、日本の新聞記事や、英語ニュースの翻訳部分だけをみるとこう言った訳を多く見かけます。
「アメリカ軍兵士よ。我々は背後からお前たちに迫っている」
もちろん、これでも分かるのですが、やっぱり原文があるとこの訳だけでは物足りないことが分かります。
つまり、"watch"が訳されていないのです。
背後から「お前たちを見張っているぞ」という脅迫めいたニュアンスがありません。
「俺たちはお前たちに迫っている・・」
あっ、そう！ だから何なの・・」なんてことに
「見張っているぞ」ということで、監視カメラのような効果があるのです。
「見張っているぞ！」と言われると
「えっ、どっから」とちょっとドキッとしますね。
やっぱり"watch"は訳してもらわないと困ります。
だから、原文が必要なのです。
原文があると、原文のない日本語に訳した記事では表現できない難しさがありますが、事実をより正しく、正確に伝えることができます。読者も正しい正確な情報が獲得できます。
